The server is currently being attacked. We are working on fixing the problem as quickly as possible. We expect extended delay. Sorry.

The hosting company has identified the issue and are working with Joris, John and myself to fix the machine and prevent this from happening again prior to reopening the server. There is still no ETA. FYI: There will be a roll back of approx 24 hours.

Currently the hardware firewall is being reconfigured to prevent this from happening again. Unfortunately this is quite time consuming. Its all for the greater good. If required (Which is highly unlikely), we have proper backups of all the required server data (Databases and such).

Besides some down-time of the HB server, this doesn’t seem like a big issue. Simply time consuming. Once I receive a proper update, i'll inform you guys.

With the rollback, it'd revert your character back including any EXP claimed. Relax. Even if the site was up you would lose the EXP any way. I can look in to giving 150k exp at least per day that the server is down if we're still getting votes. Unless you've got the links saved on your PC I can't help as my PC is acting up (unrelated).

Update 05-11-2008 10.35 AM CET:
I've checked all security logs for unwanted logins to the server. Only known IP addresses accessed the machine. Also checked the machine for backdoors, unwanted services and more. There seems to be no damage whatsoever to the machines.

At this time, no ETA yet. We're waiting for the host to finish up things on their side. We do think that it shouldn't be much longer from now. We will keep you updated.

Edit: There shouldn't be a rollback!

Update November 05, 2008 Europe CET:
Firewall configuration is done and the attack has been stopped (For now). We got the go from the host to bring the game back up. Currently waiting for a go from iEnt itself.

As we cannot predict attacks to happen, I'd say go ahead and play. We've made some changes which decreases the impact of such attack drastically. You probably won't even notice it anymore when it happens, if it ever happens again.

There is some packet loss on the line at the moment. Host will be looking into it.

It seems that everything is stable now. The "bad" traffic is being rerouted to the so called "recycle bin" and not reaching the HB server any more. Will post a full update once we receive more info from the host.

The server is still under attack. We are working with the hosting company in an effort to try and prevent them from having such an impact.

Update 13th November, 2008 AUS
The hosting company is continuing their efforts to prevent the attacks. While I’m unable to say exactly what the details are, progress is being made. We have also contacted the appropriate authorities and are in discussion regarding the attacks.

Some members of the community have expressed an interest in what compensation will be given for the down time, once the server is stable again we will announce the plan.
