The new event has now officially begun. It’s called “Double Up” because you need “doubles” of a piece of armor, and the stat goes “up”. (Don’t be confused! The stat isn’t doubled. It goes up by one step only.)
(1) Put the two matching armors in your bag.
(2) Make sure the character is not wearing or carrying any other upgradeable armors.
(3) Enter this command into your profile:
/setpf Service Double Up
(4) Log out. Wait 60 seconds. Log in.
(5) Check your bag. You should have a single piece of upgraded armor. Confirm that the upgrade worked as expected.
(6) If you still have 2 armors in your bag, check your profile. The reason the Double-Up should be explained there.
For merging non-statted armors, the process is the same, but the command in Step #3 is slightly different. You’ll need to include what TYPE of Substat you’re requesting. For example:
/setpf Service Double Up HP
That should turn your 2 non-statted armors into a singe HP 7% piece.
Valid choices of SubStat are HP, MP, SP, DR, MR, PR. (You will not be able to create PA, MA or EXP pieces from non-statted pieces.)
The Basic Concept
Find two matching armors, and you will be able to merge them into a single upgraded piece.
The point of the event is to make ALL armor drops valuable — even no-stat armors. We can’t change the drop lists or drop rate (yet), so this is one way we can take out a bit of the disappointment when a drop finally happens… and it’s junk! Now even junk will be good for something.
So..what are “matching” armors?
To be merged, armors must:
- be the same TYPE (e.g., two winged helms)
- be the same gender
- have the same type of Main Stat (e.g, Light, Strong, Crit-Incr. or MC)
- have the same type of Sub Stat (e.g., HP Regen, Magic Resist, etc.)
- have the same Sub Stat Percent.
What about No-Stat (n/s) armors?
Yes, no-stat armors can be used, too. To merge no-stat armors, you must still find a matching pair. (Same type, same gender, same type of main stat.) When you merge two no-stat pieces, they will take on the entry-level stat that you choose, such as MP7, HP7, SP7, MR21, DR21 or PR21.
MA and PA are NOT valid choices when merging no-stat armors!
Do I need anything else to do an upgrade? Wilds? Mysterious?
Nope. Just the armors.
Which types of armor qualify?
ALL types of regular armor will work, provided the piece has stats. This includes hauberks, chain hose, plate leggings (e.g., from event), leather, scale mail, chain mail, plate mail, helm, full helm, winged helm, horned helm, and – YES – even capes!! “Regular” armor does NOT include Hero gear, DK gear, Bishop items, blacksmith items or manufactured items. Basically they need to be monster drops or something made and/or upgraded using the Mysterious and Scavenger events.
Which types of STATS will work?
All Stat Types (MP, HP, SP, MR, DR, PR, MA and PA) can be upgraded. The only exception is that MA and PA pieces can ONLY be upgraded by merging existing MA or PA pieces. They cannot be created from no-stat pieces.
How high can I go? Is there a Maximum Stat?
Yes, of course there is a maximum stat! Dont’ be silly!
Upgrades can go to 91% for MP/HP/SP/MR/DR/PR or to 39% for MA/PA. Woot!
Sounds terrific (and it is!), but keep in mind that the cost to do an upgrade goes up as the stats get higher. To make a MP21, it costs two MP14s. Not a big loss. But to make a HP91 would require two HP84s(!), one of which will disappear forever!! So it’s there for people that want it bad enough, but most of the action will happen in the lower percentage.
What happens to the Main-Stat Percentage?
There are really only three cases. Here’s how they work:
(1) When combining non-statted pieces, the LOWER Main-Stat value is kept.
Example: Strong14% N/S + Strong35% N/S = Strong14% HP7 << the lower Main Stat (14%) is kept.
(2) When combining statted pieces with different Main-Stat percentages, the HIGHER value is kept.
Example: Strong14% HP21 + Strong35% HP21 = Strong35% HP28 << the higher Main Stat (35%) is kept.
(3) When combining statted pieces with identical Main-Stat percentages, the Main Stat is raised.
Example: Strong35% HP14 + Strong35% HP14 = Strong42% HP21 << the Main Stat goes up.
There are a couple of exceptions to those rules:
(a) If one piece is bound and the other is not, the bound piece will be kept, regardless of what the main stats are.
(b) If one piece is dyed and the other is not, the dye will be carried across.
Note that in these two special cases, the main stat will still be raised if they are statted pieces with identical main stats.
How do the upgrades happen? Do we make TIXX?
Noooooo!!! This Event will be done using a NEW Service Command. So you will be able to upgrade whenever you want. Wait time: approx 1 minute! (The Command has not been announced yet as last-minute testing is still going on.)
How long will this Event go on?
Can’t say for sure, but probably a looooong time. Maybe forever!
A few other points of interest:
> When upgrading 2 non-statted pieces, you will need to indicate the TYPE of Sub-Stat you want to make.
> When making HP, MP or SP items from non-statted armors, the starting percent is 7%.
> When making DR, MR or PR items from non-statted armors, the starting percent is 21%.
> The normal in-game limits for all Main Stats will apply. Crit-Increase and Mana-Converting pieces will not go above 7%, Endurance will not go above 91%, and Light is capped at 52% light.
> Remember that the “Gender” of armors can now be changed by you, in-game (using the Service Command). That may come in handy for this event, since the perfect match for a piece may exist, but it may be the wrong gender. So you might want to pick up a few Gender Change scrolls from the Cash Shop so you’ve got them when you need them.
